the multicultural artist arash (with persian origins) made his first contact with electronic dance music in the mid 90s. mainly influenced by the classic house sound of the 90s and the german electronic music scene around frankfurt, he found his passion to house & techno music. as a teenager he started to spin vinyl and got deeper & deeper into the world of dance music and club culture. after a few years of loving & living he started to host & play on his own parties in the region with his own touch and view of electronic dance music. this was followed by appearances in various clubs and off locations. his dj sets are made of a danceable mixture of groovy deephouse and techhouse. 2011 arash started to take his passion on the next level with shaping his own sound. since then he released tracks on record labels like kiara records (barcelona), bla bla (amsterdam), be real (amsterdam) and night drive music (berlin). arash is definitely an artist to keep a close eye and ear on!

after his separation from playhouse in 2007 and the rather longish break that followed it, it looks as if isolee has finally found their new homebase with pampa records. evidence of this may be found in such unprejudiced tracks as taktell, a single extracted from the album well-spent youth. as is tyical for isolee, it defies any clear-cut genre classification and creates its very own harmonic setting, merging associations of pop, house and distant landscapes into a unique sound voyage.

rummage in some boxes of my favourite record store i found a cover that made me curious. l kubic & tagträumer² - the only thing in this world and on the flipside a remix by alle farben. when placing the needle at the beginning of the vinyl the first sounds were very strange. i thought that must be a record from the 60s lost in the tech-house box but than a straight beat turned everything different. a piano melody slowly sat down firmly in my ear and i was longing to know where the journey takes me. after a while an acidline pushed everything and i was sure at this time this is not a normal 4/4 tech-house record. alle farben remixed the themes very playful and i heard that he gives the elements more pressure for the club. so at the end i bought this one and i cannot imagine taking this unique record ever again out of my record case.

nyc (via paris) based dj and producer sid vaga returns to nickodemus wonderwheel recordings with another 12 inch full of exotic deep house vibes sure to light up dance floors everywhere. it is an impressive follow-up to his genuinely well-received *brazuca* single from last year. on the a side, sid delivers *na na ye*, a driving cut with a pulsing bass line and hypnotic african chant that pushes the tune forward before getting flipped into a percussive section alongside deep and subtle synths. on the flip *manouche* can be found, a late night house tune with psychedelic balkan guitars and swirling gypsy vocal samples punctuating the track. rounding out the single, valencian producer oscar barila (plastic city) gives *manouche* a truly funky remix with a squelchy 80s new wave style bass line, thumping house beat, and irresistible synth work coming together for a real after-hours nightclub workout.

boris bunnik goes under many aliases. numerous smaller projects, some huge faceless projects but mostly known and well respected for his conforce project. as versalife he found his way to the clone familia for his night time activities project, and around this same period we just managed to pull out the best suitable tracks for frustrated funk. versalife is electro-techno in its purest form. deep and intense analog rhythms with crisp percussion patterns slightly touching the more experimental side of things. this ep is a nice balanced mixture of industrial drone material to more classic sounding electro with versalifes own signature strength. highly recommended as always!

flume is a 20 year old beatmaker from sydney. he got his first taste for producing at age 13 from the most unlikely of places - a music production program he found in a cereal box. sleepless is flumes debut single and has enough lush pads, chopped and chipmunked vocals, saw synths and awesome percussion to impress any fan of hudson mohawke, flying lotus, seekae or space dimension controller.

tenebraes >element ep< is the third release of grinch productions, a label specialising is deep and dark electronic music. the tracks >cold forged< and >element< incorporate found sounds and effects from industrial environments to give the music a sense of machine-like movement. the heavy pulse of the tracks attempts to capture a feeling of the technological driving force behind modern civilisation. also featured is a remix of >element< by the grinch himself. this track follows on from the theme of the release and adds a hypnotic broken rhythm to the formula.

this latest release from hizatron and bashley galvanises the usual wigflexian- gloop with a more industrial edge and a superb implementation of found sounds. a darker pallet underpins the record but this is inverted then lifted with inserts of scattered euphoria. whilst all that is synonymous with the current face of techno lurks consistently in the background throughout, in an almost redemptive fashion, we are hoisted upward from a chromatic descent and set forth onto a crisp, bouncy path peppered with light. the depth of stereo field is utilised perfectly here and the use of dimension is something of a staple for all of those who call wigflex home. hizatron is known for his seamless arrangements, catchy melodies and punchy percussion and this record has that unquestionable tron swagger but the familiar sound is accelerated by new influences from bashley who although a relatively unknown member of the family brings a fresh range of timbres that compliment hizas signature grooves.

blank code presents bcr002 - beta ep from the plant worker (also known as a. trebor), released on 12 inch vinyl with custom made silk screened jackets and available with an additional track found exclusively on the digital release. beta 01 represents merciless techno, with a pounding kick and unexpected drops that leave the listener gasping for breath. the luis flores remix introduces a subtle swing, making it more danceable than the original while still retaining the ominous tones imbued in the track by the plant worker. beta 02 stumbles in with anxious acid synths and urgent hi-hat patterns, slowly building to a massive climax. mysterious chimes wandering around the sonic space give a haunting feel to beta 03, the eery conclusion of the vinyl version of the release. the eps digital exclusive, beta 04, returns the listener to the original themes of beta 01 – open, reverberating bass accented by the sounds of echoing metallic decay.

luv005 already and no doubt another classy four tracker that will top a few sales charts in the coming weeks and months. it has been a wonderful summer for the luv shack crew with every release bettering the last. the response and reaction to the new label has been astounding and beyond a pleasant surprise. with intelligent dance music such as this, it really shouldnt be such a surprise, but in a world of mass mediocre music, it does happen more often than not, that the good stuff doesnt always find its way. the guys though have found a place in a lot of hearts and quite a few tasty dj sets and record boxes with four very consistent releases. so, here we go with what is yet another worthy addition to any half decent djs repertoire me thinks. and it is lee stevens who teams up with local friends to deliver a very crafted set of aural niceness for your distinguished pleasure.

sex tags mania warehouse find! this might not be one of those popular ware house finds you run into these days, but still, from a storage of a friend of a friend this got dug out. almost brand new but never sold in any amount - a german-french(?) 12 as great as the summer. straight to the b, you know that track you hear, not on any given sunday, but only the exeptionally good ones, the track that sonically floats around, though maybe being to euphoric, still gathers everybody in the area to some sort of silent agreement of peace. usually these musical pieces are found as single items on flee markets if you re a proper digger or have straight out beginners luck. maybe the world has turned up side down, because this beauty has german lyrics (with an instrumental following).

born in america, raised in scotland, singing saxophonist amy lyon has been writing and singing music for around 6 years and began playing saxophone at the age of 10. with a love for jazz, funk and soul her influences include ella fitzgerald, otis redding, amy winehouse and erykah badu. with marlon hoffstadt she found an congenial partner to take her songs to the dancefloor. despite his innocent age of 18 years marlon’s productions keep up with those of the well known when it comes to quality. stylistically his sounds are somewhere between pop and house. marlon has that certain “something” that creates its own character and a very distinctive sound. their debut ep “you and a love stoned ghost,” contains four enchanting tracks created by the synergy of marlon’s fresh productions and amy’s energetic voice.
